I
Sarah’s purpose in prenatal classes is to guide students through the different stages of pregnancy using the practices of asana, the power of the chakra system (the energetic body / prana) and her understanding of human psychology in a modern world.
Through the trimester’s students can quickly identify themselves in the practice of yoga according to where they are in their pregnancy.
Adding to this Sarah uses the different tools in yoga to create a space where students can begin to enquire about themselves AND nurture themselves.
Prana and energy have a huge and powerful part in how we see, communicate and behave in our world. Pregnancy for Sarah is exactly this, in action, during the 9 months gestation. To be able to identify your feelings, thoughts and body changes during pregnancy women will learn the skills to surrender, let go, accept and progress.
Like nature, pregnancy and life change, adapt and continually evolve. When our energy is stuck, either through a thought process, or a physical restriction or a past emotional event that has caused trauma our energy stops moving – so we no longer experience evolving change.
Pregnancy comes with a new and often unknown identity (especially for first time mums). The unknown can be an anxious time, it can identify those who cope with unknown and those who can’t.
Pregnancy also comes (for some) with medical restrictions and complication ranging from fatality to how women give birth. This too can identify those who find this journey challenging and those that don’t (and all those in-between).
Sarah teaches classes with the aim to help and support women in their journey. To look inwards at themselves and see; where, if and how they can apply the tools of yoga, to their lives and create the space within to progress, change and evolve.
